Blue Ridge Apartments
and Cultural Arts Center

Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge
Charlottesville, Virginia

The project was the product of a visioning and master planning process to grow the campus to serve more of the client's constituents with larger housing options and more attractive dining, activity, and event spaces.

The project includes 122 independent living apartments, ranging in size from 1,340 to 1,837 square feet. With twelve different floor plan options, each unit has its own exterior balcony, a below-building parking space, and direct indoor access to the main community building.

At the heart of the Cultural Arts Center component of the project is a domed multi-purpose room that may be subdivided into three separate spaces. There is also a new dining room, chapel, two art studios, and staff offices. The existing kitchen and service areas were also renovated and expanded as part of the work. In the shadow of Monticello, elements of the building's design were inspired by Thomas Jefferson's architectural work.

The project was designed and managed by Drew Kepley while a Principal at SFCS Inc., Architect of Record.
