Living Room

Independent Living Townstone
Villa & Cottages

Moravian Hall Square
Nazareth, Pennsylvania

The project includes several independent living cottages as well as a small apartment building with four new independent living units and parking below. Called the Townstones, a blend of townhouse and brownstone, the apartments and new homes were constructed to provide more housing options on the campus and also serve as models for units planned for their satellite community, Heritage Village.

The Townstones are designed on the exterior to look like vertical rowhouses, a common housing type in the Lehigh Valley. Instead, the dwellings are actually horizontal, one floor apartments. The layouts feature through-building open plans, individual garage and storage spaces for each resident, and a central elevator.

The project resulted from a master planning process with community leaders, staff, and other stakeholders. The new structures are inspired by Moravian architecture of the surrounding community.

The project was designed and managed by Drew Kepley while a Principal at SFCS Inc., Architect of Record.
