Roanoke County Fleet Services Center Expansion & Accessory Structures

Roanoke County, Virginia

This multi-building project includes two large additions to the existing Fleet Services Center, a new structure for the County Stormwater Department, a new satellite Parks and Recreation Utility Building, renovations of an existing cold storage building into a new Communications Department headquarters, and new Fueling Center and Washbay.

Featured here, the Fleet Service Center serves as the County's maintenance facility for all fleet vehicles, including Garbage Trucks, Fire & Rescue vehicles, Police vehicles, Parks, Recreation and Tourism maintenance vehicles and more. Over 1,100 vehicles and equipment receive preventive maintenance and repairs here.

To meet the growing needs of the operation, a two-story garage expansion with bridge crane, equipment storage, and support spaces was added to the south. An office wing to house related County staff was added to the north end of the existing structure.

The architecture of the new additions pick up on the proportions of the earlier forms and carry forward the vocabulary of the existing structure.

The project was designed and managed by Drew Kepley while a Principal at CJMW Architecture, Architect of Record.
