Riverwalk Parking Structure and Pedestrian Bridge

Carilion Clinic
Roanoke, Virginia

The new five-story precast double-tee parking structure includes a central ramp with stairs and elevators at each end. These circulation elements are defining elements of the architecture and feature abundant glass to foster visibility for pedestrians.

The garage is connected by a covered walk to a steel truss bridge over the Roanoke River, leading to the main entrance to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The bridge is framed by brick pavilions that relate to the hospital and surrounding neighborhood.

The project was designed and managed by Drew Kepley while a Principal at SFCS Inc., Architect of Record. Wilbur Smith Associates was consultant on the parking structure.
